Kat Kassman, LPC
Kat is a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to supporting individuals and couples through the transformative journey of the perinatal period. From pregnancy through postpartum and early parenthood, she specializes in helping clients navigate the emotional, relational, and identity shifts that can arise during this time. Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, birth trauma, relationship strain, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the transition into parenthood, she offers a compassionate, nonjudgmental space to process and heal. She knows that parenthood is messy (literally and figuratively), and that some days are easier than others as you adjust to the transformation of becoming a parent.
Kat received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Minor in Child Development from Texas Christian University in 2017. She went on to earn her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Arkansas in 2020. Her desire for supporting new moms began in 2018 during her Internship, when she started a support group for pregnant women who were incarcerated. That passion only grew when she became a first time mom and experienced firsthand how quality care made all the difference in her wellbeing.
Kat collaborates with her clients to tailor her treatment style to meet each client’s specific goals. Kat believes that the power of therapy is rooted in creating a trusting and safe therapeutic relationship that encourages vulnerability. Her clients appreciate her balance of humor and deep reflection and insight.
Kat’s therapeutic approach primarily draws from attachment theory, which views people as innately relational, and wired for intimate connection and bonding with others. Kat is also extensively trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which is an evidenced-based approach that helps clients strengthen and repair their relationships with their significant others and family members. EFT helps clients identify and understand their cycles of conflict and heal the emotional injuries that occur as a result of those cycles. EFT is considered the gold standard in working with couples and is also highly effective when working with individuals. Kat is also a certified Bringing Baby Home Educator and specializes in helping couples prepare their relationship for the transition to parenthood.
Kat believes that we all deserve safe, secure, and nurturing relationships and she creates these relationships with her clients and helps them in turn create them in their lives. Whether you’re seeking help as an individual or looking to work on your relationship along with your partner, Kat is eager to walk alongside you!
Kat joined Restorative Counseling Services in 2020 and sees clients exclusively via telehealth.
In her free time, Kat enjoys reading, perfecting her craft in pour over coffee, and trying to learn Mahjong.
