Marissa serves as the Clinical Director at Restorative Counseling Services and also offers Clinical Supervision for other counselors seeking to obtain licensure. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor and received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University in 2012. Upon graduation, she trained and worked at the Anxiety & Stress Management Institute in Atlanta until she founded Restorative Counseling Services in 2015. Marissa creates a safe and nurturing environment for all of her clients and the counselors she supervises, increasing self-awareness and personal development during each session. Clients appreciate her warm and empathetic nature paired with her direct and clear approach.

Marissa is our resident couples and family therapist and is passionate about helping her clients’ relationships become healthy and strong. Marissa works with couples experiencing high levels of conflict, as well as couples who find it hard to speak openly with their partner and have fallen into a pattern of avoidance. She uses an approach called Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help couples increase their attachment bond, reduce conflict, increase intimacy, and repair relational wounds (including affairs and other betrayals, addictions, and trauma). For family work, Marissa applies the same principles of EFT to help all family members thrive. She regularly works with families with adult children who seek to create a healthier dynamic.

Additionally, Marissa has over 10 years of experience treating individuals struggling with anxiety disorders, including OCD, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Phobias. Marissa pulls from a variety of evidence-based therapies to develop comprehensive and personalized counseling plans for each of her clients based on their presenting concerns and goals.
